History

In 1947 the city of Quito ( capital of Ecuador) witnesses the opening of the first Travel Agency and Tour Operator in the country -ECUADORIAN TOURS. This unique event caught the attention of citizens around the city and especially those who have previously had the opportunity to travel abroad and bought their tickets to the only two airlines available at that time "Panagra" and "Avianca". Those who have travelled understood that the mission of a Travel Agency was not only to sell tickets but also to help clients organize their trips in a safe way and considering all the details and issues that involved travelling to other countries of the World.

That same year (1947) American Express appoints Ecuadorian Tours as its exclusive representative in Ecuador making our company the first Travel organization to obtain this distinction in South America. We then introduced to the local market the famous American Express Travelers Checks. This new monetary instrument allowed clients to travel to other countries in a much safer way.

Not many years passed and Ecuadorian Tours organizes and provides services to the first groups of tourists arriving to Ecuador sent by American Express. Initially visiting Quito and Guayaquil and later the vast majority of today's well known destinations such as Cuenca, Galapagos and the Jungle.

We later became representatives to Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruises, Greyhound and Auto Europe.

Today we are a company of more than 65 travel professionals with offices in Quito and Guayaquil and with our own Incoming Tourism infrastructure such us own buses, destination consultants and in house tour guides licensed by the national government and many of them have specialized knowledge in areas such as bird watching, botany, nature amongst others. All of them are bilingual in Spanish and English and we can provide services in Japanese, German, French and other languages upon request.

After more than 60 years of continued top quality services to millions of tourists we can proudly say that Ecuadorian Tours is the company that opened Ecuador to the World and became the pioneer of Ecuador's Tourism Industry.
